"Teaching is not just a job. It is a human service, and it must be thought of as a mission."
Dr. Ralph Tyler

"A high-school teacher, after all, is a person deputized by the rest of us to explain to the young what sort of world they are living in, and to defend, if possible, the part their elders are playing in it."
Emile Capouya

"I am responsible for everything that happens in my classroom - - Likewise, I am responsible for everything that fails to happen in my classroom."

What I love about this simple quote is you can change the word "classroom" to whatever you wish; life, students, classroom, school, office, church, children, soldiers, etc. This was my motto for 28 years serving our country while on active duty with the military during Vietnam as well as Desert Storm.

"You need not to be an education graduate to teach. Learning does not stop in the four corners of a classroom."

"What should young people do with their lives today? Many things, obviously. But the most daring thing is to create stable communities in which the terrible disease of loneliness can be cured."
Kurt Vonnegut

"Para-power is an invaluable source of power that the educational system can no longer afford to overlook!"

Para-power is a synergy that consists of all the time, effort, and care that paraeducators put into the educational system as workers, tutors, caregivers, instructional staff, etc. We are an invaluable piece of the educational teampuzzle. Para is short for paraeducator or paraprofessional. We are over 500, 000 strong and work in school systems across the United States. Your can find out more information about us at the National Resource Center For Paraprofessionals website.

"Anthropology demands the open-mindedness with which one must look and listen, record in astonishment and wonder that which one would not have been able to guess."
Margaret Mead

"You don't understand anything until you learn it more than one way."

"I decided that adventure was the best way to learn about writing."
Lloyd Alexander

"Let each become all that he was created capable of being."
Thomas Carlyle

"The greatest leaders in the world have not gotten were they are by knowing what to expect from the people they lead. They have gotten there by understanding what not to expect. The greatest disappointments in life come as a result of violated expectations. When we manage our expectations, we exercise self control over the emotions of consequence."

"Diversity: the art of thinking independently together."
Malcolm Forbes

"Be curious, not judgmental."
Walt Whitman

"I once had a brilliant teacher who said in the classroom, 'I made a lot of money in my life and I have enough money to live the rest of it. I don't need to be a teacher'. Then one student asked, 'So why do you still teach classes?' And he answered, 'Because I want you to change the world'."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by Marcelo S., Age 16 --- Brazil
This motivated me a lot, because I know he was not there for the money, but because he believed in our potentials to be someone better than just a professional in the future, he believed we could be a "world-changer".

"It is said in the Bible that God wants us to share our blessings and talents. What a fitting way to share it - by TEACHING."

"The key to education is the experience of beauty."
Friedrich Schiller

"I do not teach. I relate."
Montaigne

"Too often we give children answers to remember rather than problems to solve."
Roger Lewin

"Think like a man of action, act like a man of thought."
Henri Bergson

"The empowering effect one feels when educating any child lies in the simple truth that the real joy of it is not the moments you have embraced but rather moments etched in their hearts when you had allowed them to embrace you."

This is an original quote that I have put together...so I hope everyone likes it and uses it!! --- Russell

"O is for only and only those who try will learn their lessons well and learn by and by."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by Emma Gonzalez --- Texas
When I was in Second Grade I had to learn this quote. The 'O' was part of the word 'Welcome' which was an introduction to a parent's meeting at our school. The school year was 1954. I felt that I was a very important part of the education process and that I would never forget this quote. My parents, who have since passed, told me that I would even say it in my sleep.

"You don't have to be the best, just do your best."
