Most people have a vague idea or feeling that they are carrying with them some kind of wall or shield between themselves and the world. The reason for this is f-e-a-r. It is widely agreed that all fears basically stem from a fear of death/loss. This shield is put there to 'protect' against this. Nothing can. And what a lot of people don't realize is that the only way to get rid of (or transcend) this fear is to love and fully live their lives and, ironically, it is this subconscious/psychological barrier/wall that stops them from doing this!!

You will never hear a person who has been in love asking, "What is the meaning of life", and you will never find a person who has lived fully and completely but is afraid to die. Why would they be? We will all die, one way or another, at one time or another. There is no way around it or defense against it, so I reckon that the only thing to do is to loosen up, to drop your guard, to smile and live every day as though it may be your last. In my experience, the ONLY people who know how to live and are not afraid to love are those who already know that they don't have long left.

"We have to start teaching ourselves not to be afraid."
