Something I Was Feeling and Thinking:

Are You Willing To Pay The Price For Success?

We must never be afraid to go too far, for success lies just beyond. - Marcel Proust

How is life treating you? How are you treating life? Are you living the life you want?

Do you realize that each of us has the power to create the life we want if... we are willing to pay the price? What do I mean, pay the price?

There is a price to pay for everything you want in life. It could be time, money, classes, commitment, practice, sacrifice... the list goes on and on. Only you know what the price is for what you want.

I personally know that the price for success is high and that sometimes it takes a long, long time to happen. And I also know that the rewards are tremendous.

So I ask you, "What would it take for you to be as successful as you want to be?"

A better job? A deeper relationship? More money?

Are you willing to pay the price, no matter what?

If you are, then you are on your way to a successful outcome. Will it always turn out exactly as you planned? No, not always. Sometimes it will turn out even better.

All I can tell you is this: Don't give up if it's something you really want. Take the risk and be committed to your success.

Believe you can do it - then take a step in that direction. You know if it were easy, everyone would be doing it. But it's not. You are the one. You are the one that's going to do it.

Start today. Start now!

Here's to you and your ability to be as successful as possible!

An Article / Story To Ponder:

What's Your Day Like?

We have to start teaching ourselves not to be afraid. William Faulkner

Today is a new day!!

Have I ever taken the time to really consider the unbelievable power that is in that simple statement?

The power of hope- hope for success, for dreams realized, goals achieved and new ones to be set. Hope that today I will emerge better than I was yesterday.

There is forgiveness- release from past failures, bad judgments, careless mistakes, and uncaring decisions. Forgiveness for times when I wasted the gifts and talents I was so graciously given, choosing instead to take the less difficult path.

Freedom - freedom from yesterday, from the box I have put myself in, from the constraints of others' definition of me. Freedom to choose the direction of this hour, this day, this week, and this life.

Also knowledge- knowledge gained from the lifetime it took me to get here. Knowledge that shaped me as a person, for better or worse, and knowledge I can use to paint the picture I want my life to be.

And yes, there is fear... fear of regret, fear of failure, fear of finding the last second chance, and fear of never touching the stars. But most of all, there is the fear that I may never realize that today is, truly, a new day.

About Tim:
I have been the President of my local BNI (Business Network International) chapter for 4 years, and each week we start the meeting off with an "Attitude Adjuster." It can be anything that helps our members get into the right frame of mind to move forward and be successful. After 4 years of scouring the internet looking for new and different pieces, I remembered that through high school and college I was a prolific writer, and realized that there was no reason I couldn't write them on my own. So now, each week, I compose something-- prose, poetry, or just collected thoughts-- for the weekly meeting. It's good for the chapter, and very therapeutic for me as well.

I'm an insurance agent in Glen Carbon, IL. This is an industry that can really grind you down, and I've found that reading motivational pieces on a regular basis can really help with the ole "sharpen the saw" advice all salespeople hear. At 42, I've lived a lot of life, and with a terrific wife and 2 amazing kids, I have a much better life than I deserve, so it's important that I invest the time in remembering that, and in helping others do so as well. I truly believe that the only limitation most people have is themselves.

Something I'd Like To Share:

300 Hurdles

For every difficulty that supposedly stops a person from succeeding, there are thousands who have had it a lot worse and succeeded anyway. So can YOU! - Brian Tracy

Life may give you a negative, but don't despair, it may just develop into a beautiful picture one day. This year, I realized my theory that I have on life. Life is like a 300m hurdle race. Since, I run the 300m hurdles, I would know what the race is like.

The first thing to any race is worrying about whether you are going to win or not. This relates to worrying about the petty things in life.

Does it really matter if you win? Is it really going to be the end of the world? Or will you be upset if you lose and then forget about it?

In life we worry too much and live in the moment too little.

Next, is the lining up in our own individual lanes. We each start at different spots, but the race is still the same distance for everyone. This relates our lives taking us to different places, and putting us in different situations, but hopefully we will end up in the same place, but maybe at different times.

Now comes the beginning of the race. We all try to keep up with everyone and pace ourselves on other people. This symbolizes that at times in everyone's lives that we worry about fitting in or being the same as other people, instead of worrying about being unique. If everyone were the same, the world would be incredibly boring.

Now comes the 1st hurdle. This hurdle is the easiest to get over because you are not worn out from running. We all make it over this hurdle with ease. This symbolizes those obstacles in life that we struggle to get over, but we always manage to do so. You can look at that hurdle in two ways: "I can't make it over, I'm too tired" or "I am one more hurdle closer to finishing this race". This is an example of taking a negative situation and seeing something positive in it.

The next part of the race is every hurdle between the first and last one. These hurdles get tougher and tougher and you may feel as though you can't go on. This happens in life a lot too. There may be a situation that arises that you feel as though you can't make it and all you can think about is giving up. You may fall over that "hurdle" or struggle getting over it, but somehow you find it in yourself to jump over it and move on with the race.

Next, is that last 100m of the race. You feel as though you just want to say, 'No I can't do this'. Again, you must find it in yourself that you can do it, and you must finish the race stronger than when you had started it.

Now lastly, is the last hurdle. This hurdle is the toughest out of all 8 of them. In life we find ourselves falling and falling, and maybe getting too lost in our problems that we feel like we have been through enough and there's no hope. That last hurdle symbolizes these situations. It's one step close to the end of that race.

Once you finish, you look back on it and you realize that you made it not by leaping, but step by step. "Yard by yard, life is very hard. But inch by inch, life can be a cinch".

All it takes is one step at a time, one hurdle at a time.

Three Quotes To Motivate You:

"When the odds are against me, I prove them wrong. When all else fails, I succeed. When all else ceases to live, I breathe. When all turns to ashes, from it I rise. So it doesn't matter what you throw at me or what you do, I am, I do, that's all that matters."
--- Heather Griggs

"Believe in yourself! Believe in yourself, in the power you have, to control your own life day by day. Believe in the strength that you have deep inside and your faith will help show you the way. Believe in tomorrow and what it will bring. Let a hopeful heart carry you through. For things will work out if you trust and believe there is no limit to what you can do!"
--- Larry S. Chengges

"Today remind yourself that nothing is too good to be true. Your great hopes can be realized. Your most wonderful dreams can come true. All that you really need, you can have. An incredible goodness is operating on your behalf. If you are living a paltry life, resolve to stop it today. Expect great things to happen."
--- Norman Vincent Peale

Until Next Time, Remember:

Forget mistakes. Forget failure. Forget everything except what you are going to do now and do it. Today is your lucky day! - Will Durant

Og Mandino's Message

I will act now. I will act now. I will act now. Henceforth, I will repeat these words each hour, each day, everyday, until the words become as much a habit as my breathing, and the action which follows becomes as instinctive as the blinking of my eyelids. With these words I can condition my mind to perform every action necessary for my success.

I will act now. I will repeat these words again and again and again. I will walk where failures fear to walk. I will work when failures seek rest. I will act now for now is all I have.

Tomorrow is the day reserved for the labor of the lazy. I am not lazy. Tomorrow is the day when the failure will succeed. I am not a failure.

I will act now.
Success will not wait. If I delay, success will become wed to another and lost to me forever.

This is the time.

This is the place.

I am the person.

--- Og Mandino
