The challenge in life is to have the right motivation...

I Want The Girls To Like Me!

In the 1950's I tried out for my high school football team. The Coach said, "Marino, what are you doing out here son?" I said, "I want to be a football player." The coach said, "Why do you want to be a football player?" I said, "The girls like football players and I want the girls to like me."

The coach said, "Well son, the girls are going to like you in a wheel chair, and beside that you run like a duck!" I did make the team and I did not play much, however I think I inspired most of the other players to do better. I think at some point they must have told themselves, if this guy can try to play football, as skinny as he is, I should at least do my best at what I can do.

I really believe looking back on my life, that just about everything I ever did successfully was because I wanted the girls to like me.

My Father was an electrician for the city of New Orleans. He would often bring home things that were being thrown away from building that were being torn down. One day when I was twelve years young, he brought home a swing set and a set of weights. My friends would come over after school and pick up the weights and they started to get muscles.

I picked up the weights and never got any muscles. I went to our family doctor and told him that I wanted muscles. He told me that what I was going to do with my life, I would not need muscles. I persisted and said that I needed muscles for the girls to like me. All of my friends have muscles and the girls like boys with muscles.

He said, "Ask your father to buy you a bottle of red wine and when you eat your spaghetti on Sundays, drink some red wine. That will build up your blood and you will gain weight and when you pick up weight you will get muscles."

I went home and told my Father what the doctor said, and he said, "I bet I am going to run the hell out of that Doctor too." I do think that is the reason I still do not have muscles today.

My point in telling you this story is because the challenge in life is not to do anything...the challenge is to have a strong reason to do something great and mighty. I do everything great and mighty so that one day the girls will like me.

Take advantage of your unfair advantage.

When you discover your essential nature and know who you really are, in that knowing itself is the ability to fulfill any dream you have, because you are the eternal possibility, the immeasurable potential of all that was, is and will be.

Life is so amazing!
