- Have you experienced the warmth and satisfaction of helping someone in need?
- Have you reached out to the less fortunate?
- Have you been the shoulder for someone to cry on?
- Have you truly given of self?
- Or, are you too self-centered to reach out to help others?
- Do you say, "I don't have to; I don't want to confront such issues or I'll do it in my time."
All people are busy in today's fast paced society. It's difficult to face the world's needs and feel some personal responsibility. It's difficult to put others needs before our own. And, it's easy
to ignore needs when you don't look for avenues of service.
But, you should care about others. You should be aware of the load some carry. You should help bear your brother's burdens.
We all have needs; little ones and big ones... every day.
It is human nature that we are selfish and put our own desires above others. But, God's Word commands us to love others and that we are our brother's keeper.
In Proverbs 22:9 we learn that, "he who is generous will be blessed."
In Hebrews 6:10, we learn that, "for God is not unjust so as to forget your work and love, which you have shown toward His name in ministering to the saints."
Luke 6:38 tells us, "give and it will be given to you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over; they will pour into your lap. For by
your standard of measure, it will be measured to you, in return."
And most importantly, we read John 15:12 which tells us, "this is my commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you."
Help someone along the way. Your rewards will be increased, as you meet other's needs. Do your best. Know that you get more by giving more, not hoarding what you do have.
Know that you have incredible talents and you can use them for a greater good. Know the satisfaction of learning and compassionately helping others to learn too. Know that love is seeing the good in others and helping it shine.
So, give of yourself to someone today. You'll sleep better tonight for it.
